Micro-Water Harvesting and Soil Amendment Increase Grain Yields of Barley on a Heavy-Textured Alkaline Sodic Soil in a Rainfed Mediterranean Environment

چکیده
This paper focuses on the adverse effects of soil sodicity and alkalinity growth barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) in a rainfed environment south-western Australia. These conditions cause accumulation salt (called ‘transient salinity’) root zone, which decreases solute potential solution, particularly at end growing season as dries. We hypothesized that two approaches could help overcome this stress: (a) improved micro-water harvesting surface, would maintain hydration, decreasing salinity (b) amelioration using small amounts gypsum, elemental sulfur or gypsum plus sulfur, ensure greater leaching. In our experiments, was achieved tillage technique consisting exaggerated mounds between furrows covering these with plastic sheeting. The combination application low rate furrow (50 kg ha?1) increased yields grain by 70% 2019 57% 2020, relative to control treatment conventional tillage, no sheeting amendment. increases yield were related changes ion concentrations apparent electrical conductivity measured EM38.

متن کاملInvestigation of Water Dynamics and the Effect of Evapotranspiration on Grain Yield of Rainfed Wheat and Barley under a Mediterranean Environment: A Modelling Approach
Agro-hydrological models have increasingly become useful and powerful tools in optimizing water and fertilizer application, and in studying the environmental consequences. Accurate prediction of water dynamics in such models is essential for models to produce reasonable results. In this study, detailed simulations were performed for water dynamics of rainfed winter wheat and barley grown under ...
